Modern T4 Stone & Timber Villa
Commissioned project, not yet built · Images: 3D renders
Warm timber, deep overhangs, and a long unbroken line of glass — a contemporary villa composed around stillness and the slow Portuguese light.
This two-storey home was designed for an open plot in Portugal, for a family who asked for one thing above all else: a house that lowers the pulse the moment you arrive. The answer was restraint. Two stacked volumes — one in warm earth-toned plaster, one in pale stone — are held together by a panel of vertical timber slats that runs the full height of the entrance.
The upper floor cantilevers to shelter the carport and the front door, drawing a deep band of shade across the threshold. At the rear, the ground floor opens entirely to a timber deck and a still rectangle of water. Every opening was sized to hold a single view — garden, pool, horizon — and to let the evening light move slowly across the interior.
Programme
Four bedrooms, an open kitchen and living volume, a covered carport, and a rear terrace organised around the pool. Concealed lighting traces the soffits so the house reads as a quiet lantern after dusk.
Materials
Integral-colour plaster in warm earth and bone, thermally modified timber cladding, slim-profile black-framed glazing, honed stone paving, and a timber pool deck.
